Lead System Engineer
The Lead System Engineer is a senior technical leader within the DevOps & Infrastructure Team, responsible for the strategy, design, and reliability of the organization’s core infrastructure, network, and security platforms. This role leads and mentors the System & Network Engineering teams, drives infrastructure modernization, and acts as the senior escalation point for critical incidents — while staying hands-on across virtualization, automation, containers, and cloud.

Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Leadership
- Lead and mentor the System & Network Engineering teams, coordinating daily operations for core infrastructure.
- Plan capacity upgrades and infrastructure modernization roadmaps.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, Security, and Application teams on shared infrastructure initiatives.
- Act as the escalation point for critical infrastructure incidents.
DevOps & Platform Management
- Administer on-premises GitLab and Harbor Container Registry, including RBAC, vulnerability scanning, and lifecycle management.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines and build runners for performance and reliability.
Core Infrastructure & Data-Center Operations
- Manage day-to-day data center operations, including server installation, hardware setup, racking, cabling, and physical environment maintenance
- Administer and troubleshoot virtualized environments using VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
- Oversee on-premises and cloud environments — Linux and Windows Server — for performance, uptime, and system health.
- Manage platforms including GitLab, GitHub, Jira, Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Office 365; administer Office 365 services and the SMTP server.
- Monitor and optimize system performance using tools such as Grafana, Elasticsearch, and Kibana.
- Oversee backup solutions (Veeam, NAS, Azure Cloud) and ensure business continuity across virtualization platforms.
- Drive automation of system administration tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
- Enforce security policies across all systems, including OS hardening and patch management.
- Assist with investigation and remediation of cybersecurity incidents.
Network & Security
- Manage enterprise firewalls (Palo Alto, FortiGate).
- Perform offensive security hardening, attack surface reduction, and regular firewall rule audits.
- Manage SSL certificate lifecycles and lead security assessments and vulnerability remediation planning.
Identity & Endpoint
- Manage Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) for patching and compliance across the device fleet.
- Administer Hybrid Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID), including group policies and identity governance.
Containerization & Orchestration
- Docker: Experienced in containerization and managing containerized applications in production.
- Kubernetes: Good to experience in Kubernetes
Compliance
- Participate in and lead system teams through ISO 27001:2013, ISO 9001, and CMMI Level 3 certification audits.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in a relevant system/infrastructure engineering role, including team leadership.
- Education: B.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) or equivalent.
